Tyron Kaymone Frampton, better known by his stage name slowthai, is a British rapper. With views critical of Brexit and a style between grime and punk, he emerged as one of the most popular rappers in his home country and released his debut album Nothing Great About Britain in 2019 on Method Records.
slowthai releases his third studio album "UGLY" and shows himself as close and personal as never before. "UGLY" stands for "U Gotta Love Yourself" and is slowthai's entry into rock music. It is sung as well as rapped and also shouting and thoughts spoken on it are welcome stylistic devices to him. slowthai's third album perhaps shows a side of him that people didn't know yet, but he sees it as the most complete picture so far.
Recorded in the home studio of producer Dan Carey and his frequent collaborator Kwes Darko, "UGLY" is a motley combination of musicians including Ethan P. Flynn, Taylor Skye of Jockstrap, Jacob Bugden, guitarist of Beabadoobee, drummer Liam Toon and on the gritty title track his friends Fontaines DC.
