For more than 20 years, singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen has been at the helm of Danish rock'n'roll machine Volbeat, releasing eight albums, selling millions of of records and filling stadiums around the world. Before Volbeat, however, Poulsen founded the death metal band Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid-90s before disbanding.
When Poulsen was putting together the songs for the 2021 album Servant of the Mind of Volbeat, he rediscovered his old love of death metalWhen he was done with the Volbeat album, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started writing songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for Ungodly Hour) is a tribute to Poulsen's favorite old-school bands. The songs are based on crunching riffs and feature strong guitar hooks and shout-along choruses. In addition to Poulsen on guitar, Morgen Toft Hansen on drums and Marc Grewe on vocals complete the line-up.
