It reached #34 on the UK Album Charts, with the single Over and Over reaching #32. Compared to other artists, Hot Chip focuses on relatively relaxed and poppy electronic music without explicit punk or techno elements. Freakout/Releases is a continuation of what at this point seems like an impossible run for Hot Chip . The British electronic pop legend's eighth album is another dizzying culmination of a decade-long career in which Hot Chip has continued to innovate and develop a rich, resonant songcraft. And while they continue to operate at peak form, Freakout/Release also feels like a new chapter for the group - a collection of of flesh-and-blood songs that lets the band reach into the darkness to emerge as a true creative unit, their eyes positively fixed on the future.
